It’s Almost School Time!

School is around the corner and everyone is ready for the summer to be over.

The young residents in the house are more than ready for the first day of school. They already have all the supplies, new outfits, teacher assignments and their bus times. One thing that could not be purchased or given from the school was the lesson my former first grader gave to her sister heading into that grade. The older sister wrote out an itinerary of what her younger sister will have with the same exact first grade teacher. Based on the check marks, the itinerary has been gone through three times.

The morning starts with the calendar (calinder) where the day of the week, the month and date as well as the weather are all discussed. That section of time is followed by reading and morning snack. The snack is very vital as lunch time is not until 1pm or just over four hours after the school day starts. After the packed goodies are enjoyed, they move onto specials (speshls) where fun activities occur like library, music, art and gym. When the good times end, the students then move forward into math. Once numbers are done dancing in their brains, they go to lunch aka social time with food. With all of their newly acquired energy, they then have recess to run it out. When playtime is done, they come in for alphabet (aflbets) time which can only be followed by writing (writeing). When the pencils are done on paperwork, it is finally time for pick up and dismissal (dsmisl).

Hopefully, the teachers, paraprofessionals and the bus driver’s are ready for the young eager learners coming back to school next week. My cat is certainly in need of seven hours of quiet time per day. Time to start filling up the pantry with snacks and lunch supplies!
