Painting A Tea Set

Would you like a little painting on your tea set?

Yesterday, I went into my favorite craft store near my house and I was greeted by a store coupon on the door for 30% off any regular priced item. I had already been on a mission for a child’s birthday present when I went past an extremely cute wooden tea set that had paint, stickers and of course, tiaras. Nothing says a tea party better than tiaras, right? So when I went up to the register, I had the coupon, a voucher and gift card. My $14.99 set went down to $10.49 and then down to $5.49 before tax. It was definitely a score!

I went home and showed my girls who insisted that the set needed to be painted immediately. I grabbed some newspaper which quickly covered the table and some extra paint brushes as the six piece wooden set only had one brush. My middle daughter took the teapot with lid while both my youngest and myself took a cup with a saucer each. Some of the pieces were painted close to the box as much as possible and others, well creative touches were made.

Once the painting had commenced, the felt crowns were decorated with the stickers went for them and the two girls each received their tiaras (which has been on their heads more than they have been off since yesterday). They came back to the tea set when the pieces had dried and some stickers were placed on the wooden pieces just like the box had suggested. Of course, there were some remaining stickers that were saved for another day. The tea set would be played with off and on for the rest of the day.

The cute set which may been a little high at its original price was absolutely worth it for less than six dollars. The size of the box prepared to the pieces also seemed like a little deceiving, but the unique paint colors definitely made up for the tea set size. A good time was definitely had by all!

A little paint with our tea please!
