Never get between a seven year old and her plans.
Today is Father’s Day and for Daddy, his middle daughter has big plans for the special occasion. The plans were written with a multi-color pencil, but the goal is very black and white, DO THEM ALL. To be honest, many of the tasks I was handed earlier in the week are very doable and some, well, we’ll have to take a rain check.
The first item on the list is cake and the fifth item was cupcakes. Daddy, who is preparing for a yearly fitness test for work, sure could only have one of those at most. Combing through the pantry, I did find some mochi cake mix which was too small for the cake pan I have so the mix was made for cupcakes. Grab them kids, grab them and go. Both of these items are closely related to item number six, candy. His tummy will certainly thank me later for the reduction of sugar on this list.
The second item on the itinerary is listed as “shirts.” My younger two ladies made their daddy shirts on Tuesday for the second year in a row. This gift idea is typically their favorite one to do and they are worn quite frequently when polo shirts and referee uniforms are not needed. The next two items, baseballs and golf balls were not purchased as Daddy has many baseballs and his golf balls are new, thanks to his recent birthday. Nothing like having his birthday and Father’s Day being close together.
Item numbered six is a baseball game and that is on the schedule. In addition to coaching baseball, he plays on a couple of over 45 teams. While most events on our schedule were postponed in observance of the holiday, Daddy playing ball was not. The nice thing is that when the girls get bored, they have a playground nearby. The seventh item to the list is to play games which the girls can at the baseball game as well as at home as no day is 100% without playing a board game.
The last item is perhaps the most special of them all, giving hugs. Presents are nice and games are fun, but nothing replaces a good hug. Happy Father’s Day!
