Reconnecting With My Air Fryer

Why did I hate my air fryer the first time around?

Nearly eight years ago, I purchased a pressure cooker and an air fryer thinking that they would be excellent assets in my kitchen. I took the pressure cooker out of the box and after seeing multiple horror stories on the news about how they can cause damage, leaving the package was the most action it saw in my house. That cooker along with a couple of cheap cookbooks with recipes for it made a quick trip to a friend who was desperate to get one as much as I was terrified of it. The air fryer had better opportunities than its potential exploding counterpart and for a period of time it cooked quick frozen meals for the then teenager of the house.

Somewhere between making baby food at home with a blender and using the oven more, the air fryer found itself playing bench warmer for years on my counter. So long in fact, the exact pinpoint moment could not exactly be figured out. The quick appliance was not getting any love for a long time until the central air system suffered the end of its lifecycle. While the entire HVAC system would be replaced in June, the air fryer has not exactly taken a breather. The little machine has been providing crispy joy to chicken, fries, hash browns, sausages and even calamari. I love the machine and feel a little guilty he just sat there for such a period of time.

The air fryer apparently has no hate and only love for being an amazing helper. He will definitely earn his keep this fall between school, homework and sports. The bottle of extra virgin olive oil will now take his bench seat which is a little helpful on the waistline too!
