Crayons will keep the paint away after a bath!
Last evening the two cleaned children in the house with their fresh pajamas on decided that it was paint time. These girls were fully determined that they were not going to bed without a painted craft their hands and “no” was not going to be option that they would be willing to accept. Sure, I had the paints along with many different projects, but a second bath was simply not in the cards. This momma found herself in a bit of a pickle and when she went into the home office something began to roar. The mighty noises were coming from little box with dollar store wooden crafts had two Tyrannosaurus Rexes ready to make their grand debut. These dinosaurs were not just a wooden slab, but rather double layered with battery powered tea lights.
With slight optimism, these colorless dinosaurs were given to my daughters along with a faithful bag of crayons and markers. Not only did the colors from the crayons stand out, but the fun had been released. The magic had been unlocked and the girls have taken them everywhere, even to church since they have been done coloring their prehistoric friends. Amazingly for wooden crafts at the dollar store, the batteries for the tea lights have not given up yet.
Our dollar store has wooden cutouts for crafts and each time I go, I usually grab a few pieces. These usually fill the children’s need to be creative. Typically between a $1.00 and $1.25, they are inexpensive, but worth a lot of fun. As for the girls, they have been enjoying lots of dinosaur fun with their barn figurines!
