Did you see the salt disappear with the pepper?
This spicy mystery began this morning with a puzzled Daddy who wanted to put salt and pepper on his morning plate. Usually, there is plenty of salt and pepper on the table if an adult (cough, cough Dad) leaves them on the dining table the night before. Plenty being the optimal word as they normally end up as a layer of sand for little toy figurines. So as one can imagine, the result left wondering minds in a pickle with the exception of the quiet child who sat at the dining table. When questioned, the overly cautious girl stated that she was just coloring an unused face mask that was in her backpack.
Coloring an unused face mask? Why yes with a marker to boot. Momma still recovering from surgery, strongly suggested that missing salt and pepper shakers along with a clearly visible face mask with blue marker scribbles. Daddy was questioning the hinted conclusion and gave up the search for the missing condiments while little feet began shuffling around the general area. However, Momma knew better and the traffic looked problematic. A quick search within four room radius first presented no answer, but a second scan with a more in depth examination showed a hammock.
The hammock was being blocked by a bucket full of toys. Perhaps the bucket was blocking the fresh morning sun rays coming into the living room or maybe the bucket was an attempt to disguise the leisurely desires of animal figurines. Momma had the daunting task of disassembling the hammock with the face mask making its way to the garbage can and the condiments made their way to the kitchen counter. The mystery had been solved and well, Daddy really did not need his salt as well as his pepper.
