The Vacuum Shows Its Solidarity

Dearest vacuum, you’re officially bananas!

Six days after our microwave called it quits after its eight year career, the vacuum decided that he was done with his tenureship as well. While these appliances were purchased in the same month, they were not on first name basis with each other. In fact, the microwave flexed his muscles throughout the day while the vacuum only had two bedroom carpets and a low pile area rug that he visited twice a week as the rest of the house has hardwood floors that the broom sees on a regular schedule. Even with the limited flooring, the vacuum did not have a difficult work load there is only a domestic short haired cat who is routinely groomed, so the name brand vacuum dying caught us by surprise.

With an idea of what we wanted to spend, I started doing research to see what we wanted to replace the outgoing vacuum with and was pleasantly surprised as the prices had not inflated as much I expected that they would be. With the $500 budget that I allowed for, I was not as limited to figure out what I wanted and quickly found myself rusty with the models that were not on the market in 2016. I knew I wanted an upright with an attachable wand and when I asked three friends, each had a different answer on what I should get. After searching online and checking into the recommendations, I determined that I wanted a gray one that had purple highlights and a ball.

The problem of choosing quickly turned into where would I find it. Most stores nearby my home were sold out and each website had a different price along with varying delivery cost. The hunt eventually weeded itself down to two with the vacuum being $20 cheaper at a warehouse store, but the delivery fee made it the same price as the department store. With the machine coming with a five year warranty regardless of where it was purchased, I eventually decided to go with the department store as they tend to be easier to work with.

Now we find ourselves expecting both the replacement microwave and vacuum to arrive on Saturday in the similar way that their predecessors arrived. The old microwave will be leaving us Saturday and his vacuum counterpart will depart on the next special bulk garbage day. Hopefully the new guys choose to stick around a long time!
