Daddy’s Little Spender

The spending powers of a five year old are magical.

Our cautionary tale of the day brings us to land of impatience where the wondering princess was saved by a heroic remote attached to a credit card. While the momma of the house was packing backpacks and lunchboxes for the day ahead, the little princess woke up to find the television was not on yet. Instead of seeking a parent or two in the home to cure from her boredom, the young royal turned to a magical electronic speaking remote that when you press a blue button, he will turn on the screen hanging on the wall to which one desires. With a touch of a thumb, a cartoon series was summoned like a joker and instead of using a readily available streaming device commoner, a purchase was made instead. The princess knew no better and was enjoying all the splendor that $35 of cartoons could pay for.

For what the heroic remote failed to mention is that a portable magical phone would greet daddy with fanfare while announcing the bill for the cartoons. There was no doubt that the princess had put her daddy’s card in a pickle and like a flick of a wand, the link in the bill lead the reversal of the purchase which provided for a happy ending. The credit card was no longer facing a season of cartoon charges and our princess still had her other way of seeing her beloved sidekicks without consulting with her fairy godmother.

Now with a pin reinstated on the cable box, all is well in the kingdom once again. When we asked the darling princess what happened, she simply said she wanted to see a new episode. Truly the magic screen on the wall did not tell her that there has not been a new episode for her beloved show for more than a decade. Here’s to wishing!
