Doctor, The Patient Is In

The patient is approximately four years old and weighs about 12 pages.

Just before dinner this evening, I was greeted by an emergency patient on my dining room table and my faithful five year old nurse. The patient was a hard children’s book presenting symptoms of a cover with a spine separation and some peeling. The condition of “being a little too rough on the book” was diagnosed and the prognosis seemed promising although the book was in critical condition. After the nurse and I sat down to review the patient’s pages, we began to prepare for the procedure better known as cover and spine reconstruction surgery.

The patient was carried to the operating table where the thermal book binder was ready to greet both the staff and book alike. The thermal machine was warmed up to its required temperature while the patient had a glue strip placed between the delicate spine and its weaken cover. Then the book was wrapped up in a parchment paper gown and was carefully placed in the surgical machine for 10 minutes. The patient then rested in recovery while the medical staff enjoyed their chicken dinner. Once the cool down was complete, the retaping of the outside cover with the scraper was then down without the need for anesthesia. Once the book was opened and dangling upside down, the dangerous surgery had been completed. A medical miracle had been achieved and the patient was now given a clean bill of health.

The nurse looked eager to make new memories with this Christmas book although the calendar said St Patty’s Day. The day was complete and the DIY momma doctor had successfully won the challenge presented her way today. A little bit of glue as well as some tape brought the book back to life once again!
