What does a momma really do with a four hour break?
On a random Saturday, Daddy’s work had a baseball clinic for children under the age of twelve. With two young children at home, it was a great option for the little ladies to spend time seeing what Daddy does. With all three in baseball uniforms and their gear in their hands, the three players loaded into the car for a fun, sporty morning. Suddenly the bustling house of children making a lot of noise became remarkably quiet and left this momma with absolutely nothing to do. There was no one to taxi and no pressing matters at hand. So after a couple of moments, the maternity figure of the home grab her keys to figure out what to do.
With many coffee shops with a couple of miles from home, the chances were high that the SUV would take the adventure to get some caffeine. Usually a quick choice at the register or mauling options over an app, this momma found herself weighing her options while sitting at a table. Normally a cinnamon coffee or something with coconut milk would be screaming at her, but a black ice tea sweetened with lemonade was just want the barista made instead. With cup in hand, the next decision to be made would be where to go.
Like muscle memory, the momma went to where she loved to go prior to having children. A department store with lots of red called out to her. The next hour of her life consisted of going aisle to aisle, seeing and touching clothes that she would typically order online. Eventually things were placed in the cart. A cat toy for the kitty, a new vinyl for Grandma, toys for the girls and sunblock for Daddy. Momma nearly forgot herself until a gold pink travel mug started sparkling in the corner of her eye. When she was satisfied with her purchases, a trip to the register was made and just like that, it was nearly time to go home.
Momma had made the most of her morning and even had a little time to spare before the kids got home. Silence would soon be replaced with children laughing and playing. A good time was had by all, especially Momma!
