Grab your laundry detergent, it’s bound to get dirty!
Spring has sprung in the Northeastern United States and so has the clouds dumping tons of rain. So when the Grasshopper League woke up on Saturday and saw it was pouring, he decided that he wasn’t about to have his tenth cancellation of the year. The coach decided to do what every laundry washer fears and allowed his five year old players to have a muddy soccer game for the ages. Standing water on the field, no problem. Looks like rain, just grab an umbrella. Don’t worry folks, these white uniforms absolutely had no chance!
At the time of the ball drop, the weather was a miserable sixty one degrees with rain. The elements were no match for the eager grasshopper players who were ready to duke it out in the mud. The soccer ball was made to be yellow, but the ball was dark brown with shards of grass providing it with personality. Within two minutes, this momma saw her youngest baby slide while making the muddiest goal of her career. The mud seeped through her knee high socks, crawled around the shin guards and stuck hard to the skin. The girlie girl was upset by the mess, but she quickly forgot what surface she was playing on when she did her very first successful cartwheel. By the end of the game, she was dressed from head to toe in brown, but that fail in comparison to the win.
The field was not only water logged, but it now had patches of no grass. The third to last game of the season was no match for these five year olds. Snacks were enjoyed and their parents’ washing machines had two days to make the uniforms new once again. The day was a good day and fun was had by all!
